The traditional Guernsey has a story to tell. The rib at the top of the sleeve is said to represent a sailing ship's rope ladder in the rigging, the raised seam across the shoulder a rope and the garter stitch panel, waves breaking upon the beach. . It is knitted with close stitches from tightly twisted wool and this gives it its ability to withstand sea spray and rain.

All chest measurements are as quoted ie. 40" chest is 20" when measured laid flat.
SLEEVE LENGTH 34" - 40" has a sleeve length of 19"
42" upwards sleeve length of 21"
BODY LENGTH from shoulder seam to welt. 34" is 26" body length. 36" 38" & 40" are 27" body length. 42" & 44" are all 28" body length. 46" 48" & 50" are 29" body length. 52" 54" 56" are 30" body length.
All these measurements may vary up to + - ½”.
